Power Without Responsability: The Press and Broadcasting in Britain by James Curran and Jean Seaton
The influence of the Media is huge. Stronger and richer groups are easy to get informed. In 1860 press was stronger because the working class had ways to supported. In comparision with 1980, they were only looking for audience and lost their principal element.
Television starts broadcasting political information. People starts understand politics more. Television begun to be less rich in content. The audience its more like their consumers. It becomes a virtual shopping mall.
In some democrats countries it is the goverment who has all the control. In Britain they might said they are political independent.
Media it is for attract people but also to entertain. However, even entertaiment has a bit of political view.
Press freedom does exists. Anyone can start their own newspaper.
The position of press has changed. The power of media has increase over the last 50 years. This industry needs to be guided. It is like a power with no authority.
